Rhinoceros 7, the Ultimate 3D Modeling and CAD Software
Overview of Rhino 7 for Windows and Mac
Discover the powerful and versatile Rhinoceros 7 (Rhino 7) software, developed by Robert McNeel & Associates, a leading American computer-aided design (CAD) and 3D graphics application company. Rhino 7 is available for both Windows and Mac platforms, and offers unparalleled capabilities for creating, editing, analyzing, documenting, rendering, animating, and translating NURBS curves, surfaces, solids, subdivision geometry (SubD), point clouds, and polygon meshes. With Rhino 7, there are no limits on complexity, degree, or size beyond those of your hardware.
Features of Rhino 7
Rhino 7 offers a wide range of features that make it a top choice for designers, engineers, architects, and artists. Some of its standout features include:
- Uninhibited free-form 3D modeling tools that can create any shape you can imagine, which typically cost 20 to 50 times more in other products.
- Accuracy for designing, prototyping, engineering, analyzing, and manufacturing anything from jewelry to airplanes.
- Compatibility with other design, drafting, CAM, engineering, analysis, rendering, animation, and illustration software.
- Mesh repair and the ability to read extremely challenging IGES files.
- Accessibility that makes it easy to learn and use without being distracted by the software.
- Speed, even on an ordinary laptop computer.
- Development platform for hundreds of specialty 3D products.
- Affordability, with an affordable purchase price, no maintenance fees, and no special hardware requirements.
- Rhino 7 for Mac: The world’s most versatile 3D modeler, now available on macOS.

What's New in Rhino 7?
Grasshopper, SubD, Rhino.Inside.Revit, QuadRemesh, Editing, Display, Presentation, Documentation, Digital Fabrication, Compatibility, and Development Platform are just a few of the exciting new features in Rhino 7.
We’ve improved everything from editing and display to documentation and digital fabrication, and even expanded our development platform with major new features. With Rhino 7, you can create and edit organic shapes quickly and accurately with SubD, run programs in the cloud with Grasshopper, and improve your presentation skills with major changes to Rendering and Materials.
Plus, with improved compatibility and documentation workflows, Rhino 7 is the perfect bridge between various CAD, CAM, CAE, rendering, and animation products. And if you’re looking for a complete list of new commands, be sure to check out “New in Rhino 7” for all the details.
Grasshopper
Grasshopper is currently trending and seemingly ubiquitous. We’re struggling to keep up as it’s increasingly popping up in various applications. In Rhino 7, we’ve introduced new components while also simplifying the process of turning your programs into plugins and even running them in the cloud.
SubD
For designers who need to quickly explore organic shapes, SubD is a novel geometry type that can create editable, highly accurate shapes. Unlike other geometry types, SubD blends free-form accuracy while still allowing swift editing. Learn more about all the details…
Rhino.Inside.Revit
Rhino.Inside.Revit brings the power of Rhino and Grasshopper to the Autodesk Revit® environment. Find out more about all the details…
QuadRemesh
Generate a quad mesh swiftly from existing surfaces, solids, meshes, or SubDs – perfect for rendering, animation, CFD, FEA, and reverse-engineering. Find out more about all the details…
Editing
[TODO: Briefly describe improvements to editing in Rhino 7]
Display
We’re continuously refining Rhino’s display engine, balancing performance and beauty, while adapting to modern graphics hardware. In Rhino 7, we’ve introduced the ability to control transparency, improved some of the display modes, and made some models display significantly faster.
Presentation
We’ve improved Rhino with the goal of helping you present your work: whether it’s a “quick and dirty” or “high-res glossy” presentation. With significant changes to Rendering, Materials, or just capturing the viewport, it’s now quicker and simpler to present, discuss, make decisions, and iterate.
Documentation
Modeling is only one aspect of the design process; you also need to demonstrate how to build what you see on the screen. We’ve improved many aspects of the documentation workflow while also focusing on the more graphically-rich illustration tools like transparency and gradient hatches.
Digital Fabrication
[TODO: Briefly describe improvements to Digital Fabrication in Rhino 7]
Compatibility
Rhino remains the bridge between various CAD, CAM, CAE, rendering, and animation products. In Rhino 7, we’ve improved the fidelity of existing file formats and added a completely new way of interacting with Revit®.
Development Platform
Rhino 7 brings significant improvements to our free SDKs, with API refinements, better documentation, and some major new features that broaden and deepen the foundations of the geometry development platform.
